Triceratops lived about 70 million years ago. Its body resembled that of a modern day rhinoceros. Its name means "Three Horned Face" because of two, three-foot long horns on its head and one shorter horn on its nose. This plant-eater had a mouth that looked like the beak of a parrot, with special teeth in the back of its jaws for crushing tough plants.

Triceratops stood over 6 feet tall and measured up to 30 feet long from nose to tail. That’s as long as a killer whale. It weighed as much as 8 tons which is equal to a little over 3 current day rhinoceroses.

Triceratops’ skull and neck were protected by a 6 foot long bony plate. You realize that its bony plate was larger than most full grown people today?
