TYRANNOSAURUS
REX
(tie-RAN-oh-sawr-us rex)
Tyrannosaurus Rex lived
about 67 million years ago. It was the mightiest of the meat-eating dinosaurs.
Its name means "Tyrant
Lizard" and it was possibly feared by all other dinosaurs.
Tyrannosaurus Rex stood over 20 feet tall and measured over 50 feet long
from nose to tail. That’s taller than a giraffe and as long as a humpback
whale. It weighed as much as 7 tons, which is the same as an elephant.
Its massive head measured up to 5 feet long, and its jaws were 3 feet
long with more than 60 teeth. The teeth measured 6 to 8 inches and were
razor-sharp.
Tyrannosaurus Rex was
so large that a grown man would have reached only up to its knee. It could
have swallowed a grown man whole.
